The theme verse for the Conquerors Class is Romans 8:37 - Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. This wonderful verse is “sandwiched” between a rhetorical question in verse 35 and an emphatic statement in verses 38 and 39. This is glorious! The word “conquerors” is the key word, which interestingly, occurs only once here in the Bible - both in the Greek and English. It means to vanquish beyond, to gain a decisive victory. The words “more than” precede this powerful word - what incredible significance! And clearly only “through him”, the Lord Jesus Christ, can we have the decisive victory in all areas of life!  However the most captivating aspect of this verse is the phrase “that loved us”. From this phrase, we see one of the greatest attributes of God – LOVE! If we consider other passages of scripture such as John 13:35, I Corinthians 13, and I John chapter four, we see that this is an attribute  that God has supernaturally given to His own at salvation. Yes, LOVE is what I want the focus of the Conquerors class to be – love for God, love for His Word, and love for people. When we practice this type of God given love we truly are “more than conquerors”; we have gained a decisive victory!

Conquerors Class Structure

A.                 Overall philosophy

1.      Our theme verse: Romans 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.  We can have victory in all of the problems of life through Christ!

2.      Our focus: Love – love for God, love for God’s Word, love for people – love conquerors all! John 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

3.      Our goal: to glorify God through equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. This will be accomplished by:

a.       Excellence in Bible teaching

b.      Personal care and edification for each one in the class

c.       Service opportunities through teaching, testimonies, music, soul winning, visitation, etc.

4.      Our desire: to “multiply and divide” – grow to a point where we form new classes

5.      Our class: may be viewed as “planting a church within a church” - to quote Pastor Scott

6.      Our church: though we will act as a “church within a church”, we are a part of a bigger organism – Woodside Baptist Church; our loyalty and passion is to the whole not just the part. Pastor Scott is our under-shepard; we will follow his leading!

1.      Goal – visit the same week in the home of every visitor

2.      Goal – monthly go “door to door” giving surveys and inviting strangers to class, church, and activities

3.      Goal – call weekly all who miss to see “how they are doing”

4.      Goal – call and visit as soon as possible all that are in the hospital or are ill

5.      Goal – recognize each week all birthdays, anniversaries, and any other special events

D.                Monthly Fellowships

1.      Goal -  informal game times, suppers, sport activities, etc once monthly

2.      Goal – invite and bring visitors to activities

3.      Goal – endeavor to get to “know” people on personal basis

E.                  Quarterly Fellowships – time together with other adult classes

F.                  Yearly Retreats

1.      Initially as part of the couples retreat
